With the economy slowly and safely re-opening again after another tough lockdown, small businesses need our support now more than ever. One of the many ways that you can support small businesses hugely affected by the past year, is across social media. Here’s some ideas on how you can share the small business love online!

Follow or Like Their Page

The easiest and quickest way to show your support for a small business on social media is to ‘Follow’ or ‘Like’ their page. This will not only enable you to keep up to date with their latest news, events and promotions – but also help their own page growth as well!

Leave a Review

It’s well known that customer reviews are so important to all businesses out there, but especially to small businesses!  If you’ve had a positive experience with a small business, share the love by leaving them a top-rated review on their social media pages. You never know, a potential customer could be convinced to purchase from them after reading your feedback.

Share Their Content

If a small business shares an interesting article, photo or post on their page, why not share it so others can see it too? This will help spread awareness of the small business online – your followers could be introduced to their business from your shares, meaning potential new sales for them.

Share Photos or Videos

If you’ve purchased a service or product from a small business that you are delighted with, shout about it! Showcase them in a quick photo snap or short video clip. This will show potential customers what the small business can offer and what they can expect from them. Make sure to always tag the small business and ‘Check In’ to their business where possible on social media too.

Comment On Their Posts

Interact with small businesses on social media by commenting on their posts. Whether it’s a question, compliment or general positive feedback – put the ‘’social’ into social media and get chatting. Small businesses love to hear from their customers, this will also really help their page engagement rates.

We’d love to hear ways that you share the small business love online. Let us know – @mbsmih on Twitter.

Email Signatures: What Not To Forget!

Are you making the most out of your email signatures? Excluding the obvious ones, here’s 4 things you might be forgetting to include!

1. Social Profile Icons

Help people find other ways to contact and follow you by including your social media page links in your email signature. Whether they are presented as a clickable list or icons, they are an absolute must!

2. Main Call to Action

Include a simple, non-pushy main call to action in your email signature that is hyperlinked and stands out from the rest of the signature. For example, if you’re focused on encouraging more people to visit your website, often the heart of your online presence, you could use ‘Visit Our Website’ as a call to action. Choose what works best for you and where you would like people to go. Feel free to change it throughout the year, in line with your current goals or marketing plans.

3. Booking Links

If you’re looking forward to running an upcoming virtual event, but would like more interest or to spread awareness, put the booking link and event title in your email signature! You’d be surprised how many people you can reach with a day’s worth of back-and-forth emailing doing this.

4. Awards & Memberships

Has your business won any awards or is it a member of any high-profile organisations? Why not include their logos in your email signature. Making sure they’re not too large and don’t obstruct the rest of your signature, display a selection to help others find out more about what your brand has achieved and what you stand for. For example, here at MOMENTUM we are proud members of the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office), so of course we want to display that, along with being Eco Warriors and Highly Commended winners in the 2016 Adur & Worthing Business Awards.

CREATING AND USING LISTS – TWITTER FOR BEGINNERS PART 5

Welcome to the fifth part of our Twitter For Beginners series! In this blog, we’re talking about Twitter Lists – how you can create them and use them to your advantage. Let’s get started!

Two questions we see quite often are ‘What are Twitter Lists?’ and ‘What is the point of a Twitter List?’

Well, put simply, Twitter Lists are little time saving heroes that will enable you to interact and engage with content that you want to see in a much more effective way.

Here’s Twitter’s official definition:

“Twitter Lists allow you to customize, organize and prioritize the Tweets you see in your timeline. You can choose to join Lists created by others on Twitter, or from your own account you can choose to create Lists of other accounts by group, topic or interest.”

There’s so many ways that you can use Twitter Lists to help your business. Whether it’s creating one for influential people and accounts in your industry to make it easier for you to engage with them, dedicating one to keeping track of your main clients or prospects, or setting up a private one to monitor users you don’t necessarily want to follow, like your competition for example. Twitter Lists will help you see what you want to see, when you want to see it!

We heavily utilise Twitter Lists across both our own and client Twitter accounts, and would highly recommend you try them out, if you haven’t already! Here’s how you can get started and create your very own lists:

  1. Click on Lists in the navigation bar.
  2. Click the Create new List icon at the top.
  3. Choose a name for your List, and a short description of the List. List names cannot exceed 25 characters, nor can they begin with a number. Then select if you want the List to be private (only accessible to you) or public (anyone can see or follow the List).
  4. Click Next.
  5. You can then search for people and add people to your List.
  6. Click Done.
