Twitter bios! They are often the very first thing that a potential or new follower will browse at when coming across your profile, so here’s our simple checklist on how you can create one that will stand out…

Before you get started, bear in mind that Twitter bios are brief, only allowing 160 characters.

Include an engaging short description of your brand, products or services.

Twitter bios are searchable, so be sure to include relevant keywords linked to your brand, sector or offering.

Don’t be afraid to blow your own trumpet (but not too much!) Mention your achievements and awards – this is what makes you stand out from your competition!

If your brand has its own hashtag or tagline, make sure to include it in your bio so it keeps consistent with your branding, and makes your followers aware.

If you have other active accounts on Twitter that link to your brand, do make sure you include them too. This could include your secondary  office location for example.

With a limited number of characters allowed in your Twitter bio, express more about your brand with emojis! They are a really fun way to add a touch of personality to your bio, only counting as one character.

Don’t hashtag every single word in your bio, it can look spammy. Instead, hashtag the core ones – such as keywords, your services, products or any brand hashtags.

If you have enough characters left over, pop in your contact email or telephone number for easy access to followers – this saves them having to open up your website contact page.

4 Things We’ve Learnt About Creating Graphics

Whether they’re for presentations, blog posts or your social media feeds – graphics can take your content to the next level. It’s something we’ve been experimenting with a lot more recently, and along the way we’ve learnt a few things…

1. Take advantage of ready-made templates and use them as a base starting point for your graphic. We use Canva to create our graphics and would highly recommend it. Similar to other platforms, Canva comes with a selection of free ready-made graphic templates that you can customise and make your own to reflect your branding and message. Rather than feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to start, pick a template that takes your fancy and you’re already halfway there!

2. Keep it simple and don’t over complicate your design by sticking to a minimal number of colours, font styles and shapes. It can be tempting to go overboard and get carried away when your creative juices are flowing, but keep your audience in mind throughout – you don’t want to confuse them with too much going on in the design.

3. It’s all about trial and error! Have a good play around with different ideas and styles so you can identify what is working best with the message that you are trying to communicate. Quite often your first design won’t be your best, but that’s okay! If you don’t like what you see, learn from it and start again.

4. If you’re struggling to nail down your graphic (it happens!), you need to stop and take a break so you can recharge your brain. Whether that’s switching to a different task for a while or stepping away from your desk completely for a lunch break, you’ll come back feeling more productive with fresh eyes – ready to make that design happen!

Could your social media content do with a little refresh? Well, just in time for the start of Spring we are sharing some ideas that you can try to help rejuvenate your social media presence.

Short, Sweet (But Powerful) Video

Breathe a little bit of life into your social media content with the power of video! Short video clips in particular are perfect. Whether it’s showcasing a new product launch or an exclusive behind the scenes clip, they’re easy to shoot from most mobile devices, require minimal (if any!) editing, but pack a serious punch when it comes to audience engagement.

What’s Trending?

Tapping into trending topics is a fun way for your business’ online presence to look fresh and up to date, often instantly engaging with your followers. Obviously, trending topics are constantly changing across all platforms, so why not dedicate one day of the week to get involved in a topical conversation of your choice?

Create Your Very Own Series

Give your audience something to look forward to by starting your very own series! Whether it’s a weekly or monthly ‘how to’ series, or ‘reasons why’ series, by providing consistent, relevant content you’ll build up a great engaging relationship with your followers – and they’ll get to know you better!

Share External Content

Don’t feel like you always have to shout about your own content –  it can be off-putting sometimes! Share posts from others within your industry, business friends or even your own followers – this could be anything from relevant news, photos, or articles, it helps to show that you are not all ‘push’ from your own agenda.

Polls, Polls, Polls!

Social media is essentially one big conversation, so why not take advantage of that and utilise Polls to get to know your audience better? You can ask a question, encourage feedback or views – it’s a super engaging way to add something a little different to your channels!

We hope we’ve inspired you! Why not give one of the above a go and let us know how you get on?

Working Smarter, Not Harder

A hand placing some colourful post it notes on a white wall which display different tasks

The age-old adage that is used by many business owners across the globe. But what does it really mean and how can you ensure you’re being as efficient as possible.

Working ‘smartly’ (or efficiently) quite simply means doing the right task in the best way, without wasting any time or effort. The best way to do that? Plan, measure and prioritise…

I’m sure you’ve heard it many times, but planning for tomorrow today is the number one key to a productive day. (If you don’t do anything else suggested here, I guarantee this will immediately make you more efficient.)

Still, if you want to be the ‘smartest worker’, please keep reading!

It’s great to have a plan or to do list for tomorrow (to avoid procrastination and hit the ground running), but without understanding how long a task might take, or knowing their value and priority, there will still be efficiency gaps.

Take the time to actively measure how long (averagely) each task needs. They might be daily, weekly, monthly or even annually. But in most cases, they will all be a repeat of something you’ve done before (or will become that way as your business endures). Once you know this, you’ll be able to start mastering your daily plan.

Next, prioritise and add a value to each of the tasks. For example; a 1, 2, 3 priority scale in conjunction with an income earning scale (0, £, ££ or £££). This will help you determine which tasks to tackle first in the day and which could roll over to the following day if necessary – or even be removed entirely!

Nothing is simple when running a business, there will always be other distractions that pop up, so plan for those too. Emails and calls for example (measure the average time you spend on these). They will invariably come in at random times throughout the day, disturbing your flow and impeding your efficiency! But you can stop them. Plan times into your day for checking emails and for taking/ returning calls. As long as you communicate this to your team and clients, no-one will be disappointed or frustrated.
