At MOMENTUM, we believe in supporting the people and communities around us. That’s why we’re proud to announce our new charity partnership for the remainder of 2025: the Worthing Food Foundation (WFF) and its sister organisation, the Worthing Vegan Foodbank (WVF).
These remarkable volunteer-led organisations work tirelessly towards achieving their mission – ensuring that no one goes hungry.
About Worthing Food Foundation
Formed in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Worthing Food Foundation began as a short-term response to rising food insecurity. Five years later, they’ve grown into Worthing’s largest foodbank, supporting around 1,000 people every month.
Their work stretches beyond supplying food, as they also provide essential household, hygiene and baby supplies, as well as signposting families to additional support through their dedicated Outreach Officer.
What makes them different is their “food first” non-referral model. This means anyone can ask for help without needing a referral from an agency. By reducing barriers and stigma, WFF is able to reach some of the most vulnerable in the community – from young parents and working families to elderly residents struggling with the rising cost of living.
Alongside WFF, the Worthing Vegan Foodbank provides essential supplies for those with dietary restrictions, allergies, or plant-based diets – meaning no one is left behind.
The Scale of the Challenge
The need for food support in Worthing is growing. DEFRA estimates suggest that up to 12,000 people locally may be experiencing food poverty, a figure that could rise to 16,000 when adjusted for deprivation levels.
In 2023 alone, the Worthing Food Foundation distributed the equivalent of 240,000 meals – that’s two for every single resident in Worthing.
But here’s the most eye-opening statistic: 90% of the food and supplies they distribute must be bought in. Only 10% comes from donations. That means this vital service depends heavily on fundraising and financial contributions to continue supporting families in need.
More Than Just a Foodbank
While providing food is at the heart of what they do, WFF is also about community, dignity, and resilience. Their inclusive model means people are welcomed without judgement, and many former clients go on to volunteer with the charity themselves. Today, their 120-strong volunteer team includes people with lived experience of food insecurity, making their work even more rooted in compassion and understanding.
Worthing Food Foundation is also a cause close to our hearts, as our very own Lorraine, MOMENTUM’s Admin, PA & Accounts Guru, has been volunteering with Worthing Food Foundation for several years, and we’ve seen first-hand the impact they make.
How You Can Help
MOMENTUM will be supporting Worthing Food Foundation and Worthing Vegan Foodbank over the coming months with time, resources, fundraising, and awareness-building. But they can’t do this work alone, and neither can we!
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Give Food: Drop off food, hygiene, baby and pet supplies directly to WFF.
- Give Money: Financial donations make the biggest impact, helping WFF cover the cost of buying in supplies – donate through WFF’s JustGiving!
- Give Time: The foundation is not currently looking for additional volunteers, but you can register your interest for future volunteering opportunities!
- Spread the word: Share their story with your friends, colleagues and networks – awareness is key to sustaining this vital work.
You can find them on social media at @worthingfoodfoundation on Facebook and Instagram.

Together, we hope to not only raise funds but also raise awareness of the ongoing challenges of food poverty in our community.
